How many medals does Team USA have at the Paris Olympics? See the count (2024)

The Paris Olympics are fully underway and multiple members of Team USA have already earned many gold, silver and bronze medals.

As of the morning of Aug. 2, the United States is leading the medal count with 39 medals, followed by host country France with 28 and China with 26.

Swimming great Katie Ledecky earned her 13th Olympic medal on Aug. 1, officially becoming Team USA’s most decorated female Olympian. Ledecky, along with Claire Weinstein, Paige Madden and Erin Gemmell, took silver in the women’s 4x200-meter freestyle relay, finishing just shy of Australia.

Below is quick glance at where the medal counts stand as of 8 a.m. ET on Aug. 2.

So far, on Aug. 2, Team USA has added two medals to their count: Sagen Maddalena won silver during the women's 50m rifle 3 positions, and the U.S. sailing team took home bronze in the men's skiff event.

Aug. 1 was a good day for the Americans, as they earned a few gold medals. In addition to Ledecky's historic win, two of her teammates also medaled: Kate Douglass won gold in the 200m breaststroke and Regan Smith won silver in the 200m butterfly.

The U.S. men’s rowing team also took home the gold in the four rowing event, the Americans’ first Olympic gold in the race since 1960, and the fencing team won gold in the women's team foil. The win marks the first time the U.S. has ever taken home a gold medal in a team fencing event, NBC News reports.

That same day, Simone Biles earned another gold, as well. She and fellow Team USA competitor Suni Lee faced off in the individual all-around competition. In the end, Biles took the top spot, Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, Biles’ top competitor, took the silver, and Lee claimed the bronze.

On July 30, Biles became the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history after she and U.S. teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera won gold in the women’s gymnastics team final event. Biles now has eight medals across three Olympic Games.

Biles, Ledecky and all the other Olympians who have received medals in the past few days get to bask in their moment of glory on top of the podium.
